ISD seeks to work with governments of various nations, alongside international, regional, and specialized agencies, to promote global peace through international relations and diplomatic cooperation.

Established to give diplomacy — as both a profession and a practice — a structured home: one where chartered members, career diplomats, and institutions collaborate under a single, recognized mandate.
International Society of Diplomats (ISD) Chartered membership are professionals who have achieved a high level of expertise and competence in their profession, especially in the field of diplomacy and have been inducted into the College of Diplomatic Studies and International Relations (CDSIR) or similar Institutions as Fellows.

To participate in the promotion of various aspect of diplomacy with well-trained individuals, to be used for the execution of emergency task affecting the general public
Chartered ambassadors, envoys, and country directors representing ISD across continents.
ISD welcomes membership from governments, organizations, and individuals committed to advancing diplomacy.
These refer to sovereign nations that have identified with the core mandates of ISD and have signed a Partnership or Cooperation Agreement with ISD.
These are international organizations operating around the world that have identified with the mandates of ISD and have signed a Cooperation Agreement with the authorized representatives of ISD.
These are organizations owned and operated by private individuals that wish to partner with or become affiliated with ISD for the execution of its core mandates.
These are retired career and non-career diplomats or students who are interested in pursuing diplomacy as a career. Such members may be appointed and sent to various nations as Special Envoys or Special Emissaries to promote and execute ISD mandates in specialized sectors, including Politics, Economy, Security, Health, Technology, Education, Environment, Human Rights, Youth and Gender Issues, Agriculture, and Food Security.
